Officer Bios

Judy Breton CMG, CKO:

Judy’s family owns Breton’s School for Dogs in Danville, CA. Judy has judged and spoken around the world, is a certified Master Groomer with all three certification groups.  She worked for Tomlyn Products as Key account/Area Manager with Petco and Petsmart to develop special in salon grooming promotion She is Domestic Show Representative & Board Member of GroomTeam USA. Judy is a current Board member of the CPPGA. 2020 she received the prestigious Shirlee Kalstone Global Achievement Award. At SuperZoo Judy was awarded the WPA Hall of Fame Award for 2020. She has completed the AKC groomer Safety Course, Fear Free Training and is a PetTech Instructor on Pet CPR & First Aid.

Chris Bear Anthony: 

Chris Anthony, weary from her travails in retail management and office work, found her calling when she discovered pet grooming. Her nearly 20-year journey in this career has led her through many opportunities, experiences,& life lessons,  including grooming and managing in both small and corporate salons and starting her own successful house-call grooming business in New Jersey.  Supplementing those life lessons by educating herself on the varying aspects of her career, she always sought out innovations in pet care, education, grooming techniques, tools, and products. Now her passion for grooming & education has added more in-depth knowledge of scissors, scissoring techniques, ergonomics, and self-care to help preserve her own health and longevity in her chosen profession. She is the owner/groomer at Have Shears Will Travel and customer service VP at Evolution Shears. Chris is also honored to have co-founded the New Jersey Professional Pet Groomers Alliance and serves as its current Chairwoman.


Teri DiMarino:

Teri DiMarino ICMG, NCMG, ISCCMS, PGC ` An industry veteran, Teri has owned and operated successful salons and mobiles in Florida and California. An award-winning grooming contest competitor Teri was a member of three GroomTeam USA Gold Medal teams and held the positions of GroomTeam USA Treasurer and Board Member. Teri is the recipient of multiple Barkleigh Honors and Cardinal Crystal Awards for Journalism, Judge, Groomer of the Year and Outstanding Contributions to the Industry and is also the recipient of the American Kennel Club’s Leadership Award. She is a Co-founder and President of the California Professional Pet Groomers Association, Inc

Teri is a popular speaker and judge at seminars and trade shows around the globe. She recently served on the Task Committee for the WPA Professional Groomer Credentialing and contributed to the writing of the PPGSA Standards of Care, Safety, and Sanitation. Co-founder, past-president, and show chair of the Boca Raton Dog Club in Florida, Teri’s dog show career included Dobermans, Tibetan Terriers, and Standard Poodles in the breed and obedience ring.

Michelle Austin

Michelle has worked in various roles at Ryan’s Pet Supplies for 23 years.  During her tenure at Ryan’s she has been an avid supporter of groomers and the grooming industry.  Ryan’s sponsors the grooming tables for grooming contests at several of the Barkleigh shows.  She started the Groomers First initiative at Ryan’s to ensure Ryan’s was working to best serve the needs of groomers. Her current role is Director of US Pet Marketplaces for Nexus Brands. 

Jennifer Bishop- Jenkins:

Jennifer Bishop Jenkins opened Love Fur Dogs in Glencoe, Illinois in 2014 and the next year was named "Best Groomer in Chicagoland" by the Chicago Tribune. Now living in Virginia, she has been grooming, breeding, and showing several breeds of dogs and cats for over four decades. A retired career teacher with two master’s degre in history and education, Jennifer is an ICMG and a PGC with an expertise in the science and history of dogs and the unique needs of the wide variety of pet coat types. She was featured on season three of the Hulu television series "Small Business Revolution" as a Grooming Expert. Jennifer also writes magazine articles and has won an award for her blog. An experienced lobbyist and advocate against violence and for victims' rights after her sister's murder, she has been active also in legislation that affects pet groomers, building state grooming associations, groomer education, and credentialing. She has published a poster and is working on a book of the same title, "A Groomers Guide to the Fifteen Coat Types," based on her ground-breaking seminar.

Mark Dunn

Mark is the Executive Vice President of the American Kennel Club.  Founded in 1884, the AKC is the oldest all-breed dog registry in the US and the largest in the world.  Mark leads the AKC's efforts to meet the needs of US dog breeders and owners, including overseeing AKC Registration, the AKC DNA Program and AKC’s efforts to support the pet grooming industry.

Vic Mason:

Vic is the President of WPA. Founded in 1950, World Pet Association (WPA) is the pet industry’s oldest nonprofit organization. WPA connects and informs pet professionals through industry-defining trade shows SUPERZOO and GROOM’D.  As President, Mason works diligently with partners across the pet industry through WPA’s Good Works program.  Mason served on the WPA board for 12 years becoming Chairman in 2019 and moving to the Chief Executive/President role in 2020.

Erin Myers:

Erin Myers is 3rd generation dog breeder and is currently an AKCĀ® Breeder of Merit in four different breeds. She is a former all-breed professional dog handler, grooming instructor, and salon manager. Today, Erin is Head of Operations spearheading the development of the AKCĀ® Dog Grooming Institute, at the American Kennel Club which embodies several levels of grooming certification, credentialing programs, and the administration of the National Dog Groomer’s Association of America. 

Mary Oquendo:

Mary has worked with thousands of students and has beamed with pride as she watched as professional pet educators reach and change the lives of their students.

Mary was awarded the 2012 David Salzberg Outstanding Contribution To The Pet Industry. Mary was first nominated for a Barkleigh Honors Award in 2012 and has been every year since.

Before founding Pawsitive Educational Training, Mary has spoken and continues to speak at numerous professional pet educational conferences since 2006, as well as been published in Groomer To Groomer and Natural Awakenings magazines as columnists.

Mary got her start in the pet industry in 1998, when she answered a help wanted sign at a corporate grooming facility and in 2002 operated Pawsitively Pretty Mobile Grooming Salon until she retired in 2019.


Christy VanCleave ICMG:

Christy is a master groomer with IPG. She has taught grooming for over 40 years, with a major corporation and at her nonprofit that taught felons and inmates, grooming, boarding, daycare and training for 13 years. She is currently starting a grooming association in her state.



Advisory Board

Dr. Cliff Faver:

Dr. Cliff Faver graduated with a BS in Biology and a BA in Chemistry before going on to get his Veterinary degree in 1987 from CSU.  He is the founder/past owner of Animal Health Services (at one time 10 doctors, 4 groomers, 68 employees) in Cave Creek, Arizona.  He is now the US distributor for Iv San Bernard products and an international speaker on hair and skin.  He uses his business experiences as a means of merging the grooming and veterinary professions to pursue his life’s passion of healing and helping horses and pets.  Dr. Faver also teaches the ISB Pet Aesthetician Certification program.  He is a member of AVMA, AAHA, AZVMA, and Board member for the Burbank Kennel Club.   Previously served on the Novartis Lead Committee (with top dermatologists from USA and Canada), Hill’s International Global Veterinary Board, and was active in a Veterinary Management Group.


Mike Bober

Mike Bober joined the Pet Advocacy Network as the Vice President of Government Affairs in 2013 and has led the Council’s advocacy efforts ever since. In January of 2016, he was named President and CEO. He has been a Certified Association Executive since 2020, and his specialties include legislative analysis, connecting with lawmakers, coalition-building and outreach.

Last year, he was recognized as the Legislative Advocate of the Year by Aviculture United for his work with bird breeders across the country. The National Institute of Lobbying & Ethics named him among their “Top Lobbyists of 2021,” and in 2022 he was recognized by Association Trends as a “Leading Association Lobbyist.” In 2020, the World Pet Association presented him with their Pawsitive Impact Award, and he was included in Pet Age’s “Power 50” lists in 2021 and 2022.

Anjie Coates

During her 35 years in the grooming industry, Anjie spent much of it learning about every aspect of grooming and business. She knew she had to share the knowledge she had gained and began teaching grooming and business so others could learn the secrets of her success. This has also led her to teach Pet Tech First Aid & CPR classes for pet professionals and owners and become a Certified Master Pet Tech Instructor. Her passion for continuing education shows through her achieving CMRG, ICMCG, CCE, PGC, and PGCE. In 2023, her book “The Quintessential Rabbit Book” won the Barkleigh Honors, Book of the Year.  When she's not grooming she enjoys web design and coaching groomers.
